Crawlspace Encapsulation

We love our warm Charleston climate! Except for the heavy humidity part. High humidity increases moisture in the air that condenses in the cooler crawlspace areas of your home or business. This causes wood destroying fungi, mold, rot and polluted air that invades your home. Our treatments kill and inhibit the growth of those wood destroying fungi, mold, mildew and viruses. We do this by creating a seal that encapsulates your crawlspace and prevents pests from getting inside. Our Crawlspace services include clean-outs, dehumidifiers, sealed vents and doors, sump pumps, and treatments for fungi, mold, etc.

What is Crawlspace Encapsulation?

Encapsulation involves sealing all vents, properly installing and taping a fully reinforced vapor barrier over the crawlspace floor. Then, we attach it to columns and walls without mechanical fasteners. In other words, we preserve a non-destructive means of inspecting for termite activity! That means no drilling into your foundation! Fastening a curtain wall to masonry typically blasts around 200 holes into a foundation wall. This weakens the foundation holding up your up your house. This is why we use only a permanent adhesive that does no damage and forms a tighter seal.

Clean Air In Your Home

Did you know that 50% of the air you breathe inside your home comes from your crawlspace? This is sometimes called the “stack effect”. In other words, an encapsulated crawlspace means a non-toxic air environment for your home and family.

In conclusion, a sealed crawlspace better excludes rodents and wildlife. Pests can expose wires, tear up insulation, chew holes in pipes, and create unsanitary messes. In addition to pest control, crawlspace encapsulation ensures a healthier breathing environment.
